Protesters gathered at Justin Herman Plaza, in San Francisco, CA on Feb 17, 2017. Amidst the rain and bleak conditions, the crowd slowly gathered strength after 5pm. Even though a far greater number of people were expected to participate, weather may have been a factor in attendance. The crowd that did show up brought signs, bull horns and flags. Speakers were present to speak their views on the current political situation, many of whom claimed to be first generation immigrants to this country.
The primary message was speaking out against the recent immigration executive action that has sparked action across the country. Speakers also voiced their opinions regarding the ICE raids and deportations being conducted. There was a lack of heavy media presence during this demonstration, apart from a few video crews and a handful of photographers. San Francisco Police department kept a distant eye on the event to ensure peace was kept.
